1/19/2024 0 Comments Homeschooling 101: My JourneyIntroduction: Why I chose HomeschoolUp until the 3rd grade, I was in public school. We decided to try homeschooling, and I’ve stuck with it. Homeschool you have a lot more freedom. You can take bathroom breaks whenever you want, If you’re hungry you can eat a snack, etc.
With homeschooling, you don’t have homework, so you get a lot more time to yourself. You can also go to the movies, the park, or just have a spa day. The only downside to this is, you have to do some extra work so your calendar isn’t behind. My Experience School days are 2x shorter. Some days, I don’t have much school work, and can complete school in just an hour or two. I also have a lot of free time to do productive stuff such as write this article. When some people think about homeschooling, they think that homeschooled people may be lonely. That, however, is not the case. There are many homeschool meetups that you can go to. In Hardin County, there's a group that meets every Monday, and we play at the E-Town (Elizabethtown) park called “Funtopia”. We also have homeschool parties that we go to every now and then. Ever since I was homeschooled, I have 3x the amount of friends. These friends are lifelong friends. I still have a few public school friends, and our friendship still works very well. I do school year round so I can take week long breaks to film movies, travel, etc. Materials/ResourcesFor my schooling I currently use Monarch. It’s a good homeschooling website, however, there are a few bugs that cause essays to be cut off. If this is an issue, I recommend LifePac books. LifePac is like Monarch except its book work. For Math, We use Saxon. I’ve used Saxon my Entire Homeschool Journey and it's my favorite Math curriculum. ConclusionIn conclusion, homeschooling has granted me the freedom to shape my education, with shorter school days providing ample time for diverse activities. Contrary to misconceptions, I've found a vibrant social circle through regular meetups and events. Utilizing resources like the Monarch homeschooling website and Saxon for math, my homeschooling journey has been both dynamic and rewarding, offering flexibility and nurturing lifelong friendships.
